Walter’s Woods

Walter’s Woods is a half-acre green space and wildlife habitat owned by the Forrest Hills Neighborhood Association. In 2005, residents led by Walter Kellar combined efforts to clear three overgrown lots between North Carter Road and East Shoal Creek. With the assistance of AmeriCorps and Trees Atlanta, they replaced invasive kudzu, privet, and ivy with native trees and shrubs. Walter’s Woods is protected through partnership with the Georgia Alabama Land Trust and maintained by volunteers for the enjoyment of residents of Forrest Hills and surrounding neighborhoods.
